How do anti-wrinkle injections work?

Botulism Toxin is a bacterium that occurs naturally in the environment. This is the principal component of anti-wrinkle injections. When botulinum toxin is injected into a muscle, it prevents nerve impulses from reaching the muscle. Once injected, the nerve delivers contraction impulses to the muscle, but as we age, the muscle no longer responds. After treatment, the skin has less visible wrinkles and a smoother appearance.

Over time, this block dissipates, and nerve-muscle communication resumes, resulting in muscular contractions. The medication will begin to take action gradually within a few days, but it may take up to two weeks to reach its full potential. It is then naturally broken down and gradually disappears within three to six months.

The toxin breaks down naturally within the muscle but is not transferred to any other sites in the body, making it entirely safe to use.

We find the optimal dose specific to your skin to achieve a natural appearance that lasts at least four months. Most of our clients return within four to six months. What do anti wrinkle injections do?

Simply put, anti-wrinkle injections inhibit impulses from the nerve to the muscle. Over time, the facial muscles may become more active and generate a great deal of movement. This action subsequently stretches and folds the skin, causing wrinkles. With time, these wrinkles and fine lines deepen.

When there is a little obstruction between a nerve and an overactive muscle, the muscle ceases to contract excessively. This therapy is just temporary, and the block will dissolve on its own over time. Receiving frequent treatments might result in a more youthful appearance with fewer wrinkles.

How long do anti-wrinkle injections last?

Can you have anti-wrinkle injections during pregnanancy?

There have been no clinical trials testing the safety around anti-wrinkle injections during pregnancy. Therefore, we can provide no information about this.

We always recommend patients have treatments after their pregnancy and when they have finished breastfeeding.
