Non surgical fat loss treatments? Sounds better than the knife..

A pretty generous discount on a 3d lipo course treatment in exchange for an honest testimonial and some words about my journey? Yes please Create Your Beauty. The perks of being the salons favourite (my words not theirs) long term customer, is that sometimes you get to be the guinea pig for these super exciting new treatments.

So about myself; I’m a 37 year old female with a fairly sedentary life style, it’s not that I dislike exercise but due to some knee problems it has become more problematic to go on runs etc. these last few years. That coupled with my metabolism slowing down has led to a few extra pounds of fat forming where they were certainly not invited! My diet is pretty healthy and I watch my sugar consumption especially so at this point I’m happy for some extra technological assistance.

I had seen some mentions of 3D lipo before (or non-surgical lipo suction) on morning TV shows and in magazines. They often detailed the success certain celebs have had but I wasn’t really aware that this was becoming accessible to a more financially modest demographic. So as you can imagine I was proper excited to tell my friends and family but as soon as they heard the word “lipo” they freaked out! I’m sure images of scalpels and blood and American medical TV shows were flashing through their heads but once I explained it’s a non surgical, non invasive treatment their fears turned to envy!

First things first I came in for my consultation where we discussed the main areas I’d like to target (stomach area, inner thighs, upper arms), we took some measurements and I was able to ask all the questions I had. The course of treatment I was set on was to target fat removal, reduce cellulite and promote skin tightening, all this would be achieved through 3D Cryo-freeze, 3D Cavitation and 3D Radio frequency therapies using the 3D Ultimate machine. The time span of treatments was to be over 2 months so I would be receiving weekly treatments for a total volume of 3 cyro freeze session, and 8 sessions of Cavitation with Radio frequency to be performed after each.

How did each treatment feel?

Cyro freeze:

Starting with my stomach, the excess areas of fat were gently lifted by a vacuum like device and placed between 2 metal plates, once the treatment begins the temperature of the area is reduced to -6° for 60 minutes. This process destroys up to 40% of fat cells that are being held by the vacuum cup.

It was an unusual feeling but certainly not painful or even uncomfortable, just different! Preparation was quick and then it was just a matter of me having a natter with the friendly staff whilst the treatment did it’s icy magic. To be honest after a short time the area went numb (to be expected) and then I felt nothing at all. Once the application was complete the vacuum device released the mound of my stomach it had been holding, the area was still cold, numb and ever so slightly red. Within 24 hours all of these sensations had completely vanished although it can be expected to persist a little longer in some cases I’m told.

Over the course of the next 6 months my body will be either converting the fat cells in this area to energy or simply eliminating them through my own metabolism. I am told I only need this done once per area so within 3 applications I will be finished with the fat freezing part of my regiment.

Cavitation:

After waiting around a week it was time to have my first round of the Cavitation treatment. The treatment targets large areas where fatty tissues have collected. The 3D ultimate machine uses an ultrasound wave which disrupts the membranes of fat cells. The application of the ultrasound wave creates a vibration within the fat layer causing the fat cells to breakdown. Just like with Cryo Freezing, the fat cells are converted to energy or safely removed through your natural metabolism.

I wasn’t expecting this treatment to be so relaxing but the machine just felt like a massage against my body, they apply some gel and then start moving the device in circular motions, it starts off cold and warms up in a soothing way. I heard some buzzing in my ears which is totally normal and not at all painful. Flicking through some magazines the time flew by as the therapist worked their magic on my stubborn flab. If you want you can close your eyes and imagine the fat just melting away which is a very satisfying feeling!

Afterwards I felt a little tingly in the area but that faded within hours. I was recommended to stay very well hydrated over the course of my treatments as this aids the metabolic process. Results I was told can be noticed as soon as after the first session!

Radio Frequency

So whenever I hear the two words “skin tightening” I am prone to impulse purchases. So when the 3D Rf treatment was mentioned to me I had to try it out.

Radio Frequency is effective in tightening the skin. The treatment heats up the deeper dermis of the skin to a constant 40° temperature which stimulates the connective tissues that produce collagen and elastin, this super powers the process stimulating new collagen and elastin fibres to tighten and firm up the area.

After every Cavitation session I had the radio frequency device applied to my face and body, again it feels just like a warm massage and is totally relaxing. I might be imagining things but I could swear my skin looked different (in a good way) the morning after my first treatment.

All of my treatments took under an hour to complete and I could go on with my day just like normal afterwards.

Results so far?

Right now I’m at the 3 week mark so it’s still too early to have the complete results from the Cyro Fat Freezing but after I measured myself (which I made sure to do before starting) I have already lost at least 2 inches around my waist. This is with my daily calorie intake staying the same and no change to my exercise routine.

Am I happy? You betcha. Looking forward to seeing where I’m down to after completing my 8 week course of cavitation – I’ll be sure to email in the last part of my journey for Create Your Beauty to publish once it’s ready. Thanks to everyone who has helped me feel like a princess!

The effects of pollution on your complexion

You might be fortunate enough to live out in the countryside, waking up each morning to a fresh breath of air before shortly checking on your cows and chickens but in all likelihood you don’t and the sound of traffic is your ever reliable alarm clock.
You might even be interested to check out the levels of pollution from city to city here.

Living in hectic cities with large industries and bolstering populations, the air you’re skin and hair is exposed to each day is a real hazard.
Ozone layers pollutants such as carbon monoxide and sulfur dioxide are among the many airborne pollutants that cause the degradation of skin quality. We’re not trying to make you fear leaving the house but dehydration, premature aging, acne, irritation, they’re real symptomns and well they’re not very nice are they?

Preventing pollution skin irritation: solution 1 – remove make-up and cleanse skin.

After a long day in contact with polluted air, never forget to perfectly remove every last residue of make-up and thoroughly clean your skin. Please keep in mind these two steps are complementary, you need to clean the skin after removing make-up and we can’t properly clean the skin without focusing on removing the make-up specifically first – well of course unless you wear no make-up at all you lucky natural beauty you!

Removing make-up

To remove make-up, first of all we recommended not rushing through the process, attacking your face quickly and vigorously with make-up removal wipes is going to cause damage and irritation by itself. Take your time and be extra careful with sensitive areas especially around the eyes and eyelids. There are a few different methods you can use to remove make-up and some of it will come down to your specific skin type and any allergies you might have.

A few laps using a make-up remover wipe will cleanse your skin of foundation, blemish concealer, and eye make-up. We recommend looking for options that do not contain alcohol as otherwise you risk drying up your skin and causing irritation. As effective as make-up wipes are this does not signal the end of a good routine, next up use warm water and a face wash specifically made for removing make-up. Skipping the last step can leave your pores still clogged with residue caused by pushing dirt into the pores when using the wipes, this can lead to unwanted pimples and blackheads breaking out.

Now that the make-up has been removed it’s time to prepare for cleansing, and we would advise you to consider using a skin toner to prepare your skin for the process. Just put a few drops on a cotton pad and then gently wipe your skin before moving onto to using your favourite cleansing product.

Micellar water is a fantastic option that not only helps remove the dirt and debris from your skin but also hydrates your skin too, however whatever cleansing method you choose to use make sure to moisturise afterwards to help repair any damage or dryness caused by the day. Quick tip – it tends to work best applying moisturiser to slightly damp skin as this helps to lock in the moisture.

Well now your skin should be ready for bed and as long as you keep a good regime with pillows cases and sheets being swapped out regularly you are well on your way to maintaining a pure complexion.

Preventing pollution skin irritation: solution 2 – Remove free radicals and detox using anti-oxidants.

Every day, our skin is prone to multiple enzymatic reactions. These reactions use oxygen to generate energy and thus contribute to and maintain our bodily functions. At the same time, these reactions also produce free radicals that cleanse the body by permanently removing old or defective cells. As maintaining optimal levels of these free radicals is essential for the proper functioning of the body, they can then become harmful if they are produced in excess. This can lead to a deterioration of cells which then unbalances the delicate synergy between other cells in the body, which in turn can contribute to the appearance of premature ageing. These unstable molecules are not only generated routinely by our bodies, but are also triggered by external elements such as pollution which causes the body to produce more free radicals..

The best line of defence against damage from free radicals are anti-oxidants. They work to stop the destruction of cells and stimulate the production of more anti-oxidants within our own bodies. The most known anti-oxidants are vitamins C and E, coenzyme Q10 and polyphenols which can be attained through consuming a balanced diet and additional supplements where needed.
In addition to cleansing your skin every morning and evening, it’s important to also pamper it with a moisturiser packed with active ingredients to fight cell oxidation! No ingredient protects against all types of free radicals, so in a lot of products you will find a blend of ingredients to try and give you a broader range of protection – we would also recommend you use a product with SPF protection to protect from any harmful UV damage.

Additional effects of pollution on the hair

If pollution has consequences for the quality of your skin and the overall appearance of your complexion, you can imagine that your hair might also be at risk. The pollutants in the air around us can make our hair more brittle, cause faster regrowth as well as reducing the level of radiance we ideally want to have. Part of the reason for this is that our scalp circulation can be negatively impacted due to a build up of contaminants.

Anti-pollution solution: clarifying shampoo

To combat lacklustre hair, once or twice a month, swap out your usual shampoo with a clarifying product. As the name suggests, this specific shampoo will clarify the hair, that is to say eliminate all residues that might be clinging to it. To be sure, shampoo and wash twice per session on these days and then afterwards massage your skull for a few minutes to help re-oxygenate your scalp.

Well there you have it, a couple of straightforward tips to help protect your beauty against the challenges living in the modern world presents – or you could always just move to the Highlands!

It was quite unlike anything I’d experienced before and once I’d settled into allowing the water to take my weight I found it to be really calming and relaxing. I have chronic widespread muscle pain which means it can sometimes be painful to be touched but I found this technique to be particularly gentle and nurturing. I slept better than I have in a long time. Colin is an excellent therapist with a really intuitive and holistic approach – I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him and the salon and look forward to coming in again.

Reduce your stress levels to become the most beautiful you

Grinding away every day, sloshing back gallons of black coffee to meet the rigid demands of our jobs and lifestyle is normal right? Feeling stress is kind normal? Well sure, but normal doesn’t mean healthy.

In recent years many studies have been conducted and analysed resulting in startling statistics being presented by the NHS, leading Universities and all variety of health associations and one not so suprising finding they’ve all found is that over 44% of cases seen by GPs in 2016 were directly related to stress and over 78% of participants in a study performed that year, when asked how they would rate their current stress levels gave an alarming number of 5 or above! From this information alone it’s clear that being stressed has become so normal that we might not even regard it as anything to be concerned about, everybody is stressed so what’s the big deal, that’s life! Oh dear, oh dear..

Stress happens to all of us, through every facet of life, but since it’s not possible to avoid going to work, paying bills, struggling with relationships, the optimal thing to do is to educate yourself on and practise the various ways one can combat stress. This includes eating the right things, exercising multiple times a week, sleeping a recommended amount, and just general overall well being. If you neglect to take steps to combat the onset of stress, symptoms of stress will inevitably make themselves known through your hair, skin, and even the appearance of your nails can tell a story about what’s happening inside.

It’s no secret that stress can manifest itself physically in your body, you probably know that stress inflicts many problems on the body, sore and aching muscles, pulsating headaches, heart problems and high blood pressure to name a few. With that in mind it’s no surprise that stress can also have a direct impact on the appearance of your skin and other parts of your body, in fact stress is the culprit for many of the afflictions we battle spending countless money on product after product without ever addressing the root cause. Acne, out of whack hormones, dark rings and bags under eyes as well as wrinkles are all directly linked to heightened cortisol levels (the stress hormone), unfortunately for some, many of us are very sensitive to the effects of stress and experience these symptoms almost as quickly as the troubles in our life occur. Stress is something we all experience and shouldn’t be ashamed to seek advice to treat, it wrecks havocs on us in all kinds of ways, keep reading to learn about the problems stress can cause for your appearance.

Problem: Puffiness & Bags under your eyes:

Look like you’ve been up all night?

When we think about the endless things we have to get done today, tomorrow or even next week, the very thought of that impending doom can really take it’s toll mentality. This extra mental weight and emotional baggage can lead to a lackluster nights sleep and cause actually baggage, right under your eyes! Not getting enough sleep causes fluid to gather underneath your lower eyelids and the result is a puffy bee-sting like appearance when you look in the mirror the next morning. For those who opt to sleep on their stomachs we’re afraid to say that this exacerbates the problem, you can thank the laws of gravity for that one! Lesson? Sleep longer and on your back!

Solution: Get more sleep:

It may be simple but we understand it’s not always easy. A rejuvenating nights sleep is within your grasp and it’s important that you cut down on any habits that aren’t supporting this goal. For instance the light emitted from your smart phone or laptop or any number of digital devices with screens, can actually stimulate your body in the same way that sunlight does, signalling to your system that it’s time to be awake. Give yourself at least a 30 minute break from your devices, which definitely means no Facebook on your phone in bed and instead immerse yourself in a dark quiet environment with little sensory stimulation, allowing your body to start entering a more sleep ready mode. Many people have found success in using applications for their laptops such as f.lux which reduces the “blue light” in your screen which is seen to be the main culprit when it comes to light stimulation, this app will dim you screen colours and brightness to mimic the sort of sunlight exposure you eyes should be receiving, in-sync with any given time of day. Insomnia however isn’t that modern of an invention it certainly pre-dates smart phones, so next in line to go is those extra cups of coffee you have been indulging in too late in the day. Swap out any drinks containing caffeine such as sodas and even tea’s and instead try something like a cup of caffeine-free chamomile tea to help induce a relaxed state before getting into bed. If after making all these changes your eyes still have some puffiness in the morning; one little trick you can try is taking a tea spoon, popping it in the fridge and then massaging the curved back gently on the problem area, this should helps any swelling go down and help start the process of draining any fluid build up.

Problem: The appearance of fine lines and wrinkles:

hmm have those lines always been there?

When your parents used to say don’t make those horrible faces or you’ll stay that way forever, well there was some truth to that tale. When you are consistently frowning, pursing your lips or furrowing your eye brows, you’re folding your skin and teaching your cells to conform to persistently be in these positions, over time this can lead to the appearance of new or deep wrinkles.

Solution: Prevent lines from forming:

Be aware of certain unconscious facial expressions you make in certain situations; usually stressful ones such as at work or chasing the kids around the house. These habits are tricky to shift as muscle memory has built up over years from repeatedly forming these expressions, a common one is furrowing your brow, which creates deeper lines between your eyebrows just above your nose. A little trick to help retrain that muscle memory is to put a piece of tape between your brows and every time you feel It crinkling up you will know to correct yourself. Other than that, it’s important to just stay relaxed and very well hydrated as this will give your skin more elasticity and will reduce the on-set of such self induced wrinkled lines.

Problem: Flaky, dehydrated skin:

looking like you’ve spent a week on the beach?

As we mentioned at the beginning of the article it’s fairly common to be drowning your system in caffeine which is a diuretic, meaning for every cup you drink you are draining your body of all important h2o. Most fizzy drinks like cola are equally evil in this regard. So next time you boil the pot to finish off that overwhelming stack of paperwork due the next day, just make sure you are countering it’s diuretic effects with ample amounts of water. When your skin doesn’t get the volume of water it needs to maintain itself you can bet your complexion will begin to resemble an old crinkled buried treasure map.

Solution: Glowing skin and bright eyes:

As we will keep on saying as it’s so incredibly vital and inexpensive to do; drink lots of water, at least eight glasses a day! You can also eat foods that are high in water content such as fruits and vegetables like cucumbers, melon and celery which are made up nearly entirely of water as well as containing other skin nourishing ingredients. If you are trying to get an instant hydration cure after an irresponsible day of neglecting your water intake, you could try using a serum that contains hyaluronic acid, this ingredient can be found naturally in your body and holds 1,000 times its weight in water and is likely to help give your skin that coveted healthy glow. We also have a range of facial treatments you can browse here.

Problem, Acne, psoriasis & eczema:

Acne, ol’ buddy ol’ pal how good to see you..

Probably the most well known and equally unwanted by product of excess stress, acne often flares up due to your hormones fluctuating due to the release of cortisol (the stress hormone) into the bloodstream, this causes breakouts that usually couldn’t come at a worst time such as that hot tinder date. Now it may be that you are not particularly prone to acne but these flair-ups can also present themselves as psoriasis or eczema and the doctor will be sure to tell you the same. It’s not just your hormones that stress wrecks havoc on but it also disrupts the rather delicate balance of bacteria in your gut, this is a prime trigger in skin and blemish breakouts. To a more extreme level when this imbalance in the gut becomes really out of control people have been known to break out in rashes and hives which are both caused by dysbiosis (an imbalance in the gut) which is when your bad bacteria severely outnumber your good bacteria.

Solution: Reduce toxins, increase relaxation.

Everything we have said so far about staying hydrated is even more important here, drinking an abundance of water allows your body to flush out toxins, many of which are responsible for skin irritations. Cut out sugary foods that aid the body in producing excess sebum as this will cause your pores to block more easily. Keep up good all around hygiene and stop touching your face, many people have a habit of leaning on their hands with their face as they work and then see spots cropping up in the same area, you are spreading bacteria so find a new way to sit comfortably! We have already spoke about the importance of sleep but in this case it’s worth mentioning how important it is to keep changing and washing your sheets and pillow cases to stop any repeated exposure to dirt or bacteria that might lead to further acne break outs. Stress itself plays it’s part in your spotty complexion by throwing your gut and hormones out of whack so finding some time to meditate – to soothe your mind and body – is going to make a noticeable difference in the fight against acne and your body even heals better when you’re not stressed out which will help reduce scarring and healing time of acne breakouts. If you’re stress has been going on for so long that the bacteria balance in your gut is seriously out of whack it might be worth speaking to your doctor to get some powerful probiotics prescribed to help restore order.

Problem: Graying and thinning hair:

hair today, gone tomorrow..

Your hair is another innocent victim in the war against stress. If you’re genetically predisposed to grey hair then the presence of stress can inhibit the melanin in your hair from being produced, this is the natural chemical that helps your hair boast a beautiful colourful appearance and without it, your hair is going to turn grey a lot faster than nature had intended. Now whether your male or female we’ve all had those moments after a shower where we are shocked by the amount of hair we seem to have shed, it’s pretty common knowledge that one of the main catalysts of this is stress; stress will reduce the growing phase of your hair to the resting phase to the falling out phase I.e. speeding up the normal life cycle of each hair.

Solution: Reduce hair shedding and maintain colour:

There are some studies that indicate supplementing with biotin and B vitamins will help strengthen your hair and thus stop it from falling out. When you brush or comb your hair do so gently and avoid vigorous towel drying. For guys sometimes balding is just going to take it’s natural path as male hair follicles are often attacked more severely by DHT (a type of testosterone) which shrinks the follicles, causing hair to stop growing in that area. There are some topical solutions available such as minoxidil which can slow the process down but in any case keeping on top of stress is only going to help. If you’re not already, try using a high quality shampoo that is rich in proteins to try and strengthen your hair but making the right changes to your diet by including lots of healthy fats, proteins and vitamins will make the largest difference, after all your hair is made up of amino-acids (proteins). Unexpected hair loss is usually linked to heightened amounts of stress in an individual but there are other factors to consider like whether or not you have just started using a new birth control pill as this may cause shedding as your hormones will be adjusting to the medication, so it may be worth consulting your doctor and having some tests completed.

Problem: Pink/red flushed appearance:

stress can really make your skin angry

Breathing is something we do subconsciously, without really paying much attention to the tempo or the depth of each breath, but when things get tough around us and our heart rate increase we start to take shallow breaths and even hold our breath for extended periods of time. This causes more blood to rush to the areas around our face as we are starving our brains of oxygen, so the body responds by attempting to transport more there.

Solution:Calm your breathing to calm your skin:

Learning how to breathe deeply and into your diaphragm will reduce the chance of you appearing flush all the time. Deep breathing actually stimulates the vagus nerve when done correctly and this in turn helps to keep your body in a rest and digest state as opposed to fight or flight. Being more conscious of your breathing by participating in yoga or meditation classes is a great step in making such breathing techniques automatic and unconscious.

Problem: Appearance of blemishes on nails:

watch out for horizontal lines!

Horizontal grooves and ridges that run from one side to the other, are known as Beau’s lines, and they often appear when the body is weakened and the immune system is compromised from stress and causing damage to our bodies ecosystem. This is a symptom of stress often overlooked as it’s known that vertical lines on your nails are a natural sign of ageing however these horizontal lines are indicative of something else entirely.

Solution: Stop biting, eat better!

When you start to notice uncharacteristic horizontal lines on your nails, take this as a sign that your body is potentially in a weakened state and start putting into practise everything we’ve spoken about so far and definitely stop biting them if that’s a habit you’ve picked up! Start by eating correctly and perhaps go to the doctor to have some tests done to see if you might be low in any nutrients which might be causing your nails to look the way they do, for some people it might be as simple as getting more vitamin D or iron either way it’s best to always rule out every possibility.

Life style changes to reduce stress:

Right, so now that we’ve got all the problems that stress can inflict out of the way, it’s time to be more positive and talk about some of the best remedies and preemptive measures to keep these undesirable symptoms to a minimum. Below are some simple steps that we highly recommended you try and incorporate into your lifestyle to reduce stress and combat any appearance problems the “S word” might be responsible for. A lot of these methods really compliment each other but even adding one thing into your routine day by day is going to make a positive impact on your life.

1) Get more sleep, on average most people get around 5 hours of high quality sleep per night, most health professional recommend 7 – 8 hours per night.. A fatigued mind often leads to poor decision making abilities, so by sleeping more you should be able to think more rationally, make wiser choices throughout your day and thus reducing stress. When you’re less stressed it’s more likely your nervous system will be in a parasympathetic state (rest & digest) which will make it easier to get more sleep and by getting more sleep it’s less likely you will be stressed! See how everything is linked together?

2) Eating a well rounded and nutritious diet. A growing number of us try to make up for having to work so many hours by saving time on important things, like eating properly and instead favour sticking a ready meal in the microwave or getting take out. Not only will such habits fatigue you even more with the amount of additives and other nasties that fast food contains but your system is going to be starved of vital nutrients such as important vitamins and minerals. Making sure you are eating a wholesome diet full of foods which contain B vitamins and other stress fighting ingredients such as magnesium and calcium, which help keep our muscles relaxed and our nervous systems calm. Eating the right things will not only reduce stress but will help improve your overall complexion, fighting the cause of issues like acne both directly and indirectly. One recommendation from us is to include avocados in your diet; not only are they high in B vitamins, they contain healthy fats to help nourish your skin and are also proven to help raise your serotonin (happy chemical) levels plus they are delicious! You might also consider supplementing with fish oils but for the most part it’s always better to try and get your vitamins from wholefoods instead of pills as they will have much higher bio-availability this way, think kale, broccoli, spinach for the maximum dose of vitamin goodness.

3) Find some time for yourself to really let go and relax. It may be you spend all day worrying about other people I.e. your kids or your colleagues, it’s important to unplug from the world once in awhile. Actively practising relaxation techniques is probably the most effective way to reduce your stress levels. Learning about mindfulness meditation or taking up yoga not only gives you time to focus on calming down your breathing but also gives you a break from the constant myriad of things that are thrown at you everyday. Relaxing doesn’t just have to be these deliberate solo endeavours, it could be going out with friends, participating in sports or hobbies that you enjoy; the important thing is to stop worrying and get out of your head, be present in the moment. Do things that make you feel good whether that’s watching a film, some fun between the sheets (even if that just means reading your favourite book) the aim is to simply let your body and mind unwind and to release feels good hormones that will help keep your system from burning out. You might consider getting a massage (we offer them here: https://createyourbeauty.co.uk/treatments/massage/ at our beauty salon in watford) which is a great way to discover where your body has been hiding all that stress (trust us you will know when we find it) or a beauty treatment such as a facial might take some load off; let someone else take care of you for once. Incorporate at least a few of these ideas into your life style and we promise you that your muscles will ache less, you will feel less anxious and depressed, sleep better and keep that blood pressure from going through the roof.

The Create Your Beauty team would love to lend a hand if you could do with some pampering, just head to our luxurious beauty salon in Watford and we’ll take good care of you – https://createyourbeauty.co.uk

Nowadays, grooming is becoming more and more popular among men of different ages. Today’s modern male can appreciate the necessity and benefits of male grooming, and indulge in his desire to both feel and look amazing. If you think about it, why do only women get to feel fabulous? With the array of different skin and body treatments tailored for men, you don’t have to feel left out.

At createyourbeauty.co.uk we offer a variety of male grooming services, so that you can be as taken care of as you deserve.

MOST POPULAR MALE GROOMING METHODS

Are you a grooming virgin? Not to worry, we have prepared a list for you with the top grooming methods so that you don’t have to search for anything.

1. MANSCAPING: Practical and Polite

Hair removal for men, aka ‘manscaping’ does not only improve your looks, but it’s a matter of manners as well. When your partner spends all this time taking care of their body’s appearance and health, wouldn’t it be impolite of you to not make the effort?
One of the most efficient and popular ways for hair removal has always been waxing. It leaves the skin soft and luminous, and lasts almost 10 times as long as shaving, since it gets rid of the hair from its root.
Apart from being the most convenient method of hair removal for the holiday period, it is also a very good way to have your body soft and slick throughout the year, without going into too much trouble. Are you maybe thinking that it must be really painful? With the expertise of our seasoned waxing professionals you don’t have to worry about pain at all.
Hair removal by waxing is perfect for chest and back hair, as well as for smaller areas like a monobrow. If it is your first time trying out waxing, consider arranging a first taster session with our experienced waxing experts. We can answer any question you might have, discuss with you, and suggest the best hair removal solution, so that you won’t have to worry about anything.

2. FACIAL Treatments for Men

The benefits of facials are numerous for both men and women, and facial skin care is equally necessary for both. However, as our facial experts have explained, it should be noted that since male skin has many differences to female skin, with thickness, hair, and higher oil production being only few of them, men need a different approach to skincare. Depending on your individual skin needs and issues, we can create a unique and individually adjusted treatment for you, that will take care of every problem your skin might have, and cater to every one of its needs whether it is aging, dryness, oiliness, or spots.
A facial can alleviate and sooth the skin after an eventful shaving session. It can also help prepare the skin for shaving by smoothing out any bumps or skin irritation, and make shaving a very quick and painless experience. Last but not least, facials are extremely relaxing and refreshing and can provide long term improvement to your complexion and pores.
Create Your Beauty takes care of your skin by offering specialised facials that are individually tailored to you and your skin’s needs. Our expert team of experienced professionals in men skin issues, will allay every one of your concerns, and leave your skin feeling as smooth and as healthy as a baby’s.

3. Maintain a sharp mind and harmonious body through massage

It’s no secret that Massages are incredibly revitalising and ideal for helping anyone re-cooperate any lost energy due to a particularly demanding week at work. It’s all fine lifting weights every other day striving for that coveted v-tapered figure not to mention drinking 10 cups of coffee a day to cope with insane workloads but these exertions all build up. If you’re not careful before long you will find both you physically and mental capabilities severely compromised. For this reason we encourage clients of our beauty salon in Watford to take care of their bodies and also their minds, and to reap the benefits of a deep tissue massage to unlock tight muscles that might contribute to stress. We also offer the unique service of a flotation tank which really has to be experienced to understand it’s ability to clear your mind by separating you from the world and it’s demands for a window of time.

Easy tips to organise your grooming habits
– Establish a routine, and eventually just like brushing your teeth these practises become a habit.
– Use the right products for your skin type. If you have a female partner you may be tempted to borrow her products but be warned men have very different oil balances etc than a woman so this is not advised.
– Shave properly (I.E not against the grain) to achieve a smooth, with less cuts & irritation. Use a before and after shaving product to prep and care for you skin.
– Don’t leave booking for events such as weddings or birthdays until the last minute as you will often find our Watford beauty salon is very popular and gets booked out quickly.
– Understand that some treatments are cumulative and may take a few sessions to really notice the effects (similar to tanning) so think about regular visits.
– Make sure that you are applying a moisturiser to you skin everyday and even more importantly make sure it has at least 15 SPF to help protect against the ageing effects of sun exposure. (Yes even in England!)

For more information simply call us on 01923 804 445 or visit our beauty Salon in Watford: 172 Bushey Mill Lane, Watford, Herts, WD24 7PB

Being pregnant is a truly beautiful time in every woman’s life but you may not always feel that way, which is usually a good time to pay a visit to your favourite beauty salon in Watford. As wonderful a time as pregnancy can be, it’s no great mystery that it can also be very uncomfortable, hormonal and overall can just leave you feeling like your in a body you don’t recognise any more. Your maternal priority may be to take care of your baby during this time but we believe it’s also important for the mother to take care of herself too so what better excuse for a bit of premium pampering courtesy of one of our beauty and massage professionals.

Look after your feet with a massage treatment to ease aches and pains

The further into your pregnancy you go the more strain is placed on both your legs and feet due to the extra weight you’re lovely baby bump brings.
Many soon to be mothers notice a lot of swelling in their feet due to this extra baby induced load. Not only is there increased strain experienced but not having the flexibility in the later stages of your pregnancy, even to be able to reach any sore areas to apply treatments becomes a real burden. You may find your feet becoming more dry than usual and in desperate need of moisturising but you can’t reach! We can help buffer away any dry skin and apply the very best moisturiser to bring you the extra comfort you need during these sensitive times.

We also stock many beauty products geared towards treating dry skin in areas where the skin might be tougher and rougher from increased use.

Relax your entire body to a carefully applied pregnancy massage

Although your feet will definitely know that your pregnant so will the rest of your body and the daily wear and tear isn’t so kind to just attack the soles of your feet. Rigid hips, aching and stiff backs and eternally sore and tired thighs are responsible for many uncomfortable days and nights. Let one of our massage therapists carefully relieve you of your discomforts with a full body massage fit for a goddess, because at no time in your life do you deserve that title and special treatment as you do right now.

pregnancy massage watford

You can choose of course to have a full body massage or to have the focus be on your
back, neck and shoulders. We’re here to help make you feel amazing so it’s totally up to you how we go about that. When doctors tell you stress isn’t good for the baby it’s true so we make sure to wash all of yours away. We specialised massage oils created specifically for unique requirements of pregnancy massages.

Improve your pregnancy complexion with a facial

It’s no secret that the dramatic change in your bodies hormone levels can mean a drastic change to your skins complexion. Many women find they have flair ups reminiscent of their teenage years with additional oil (sebum) being produced which might render your current skin care routine useless as well as making it nearly impossible to get your make-up to sit as you need it to. All of this is to be expected and there are measures you can take to reduce any noticeable changes in your skins complexion.
We are able to offer facial treatments that cater towards the extra sensitivity your skin experiences during pregnancy and as such use treatments and products that have the optimal concentration of oils and ingredients that will be the kindest to your skin. We avoid using any products with ingredients that are more likely to cause an undesired reaction and instead use products that are approved for use on pregnant women. For the ultimate relaxation experience why not combine a facial with a head, neck and shoulders massage to really help you unwind after your tiring day carrying around your baby bump, if you’re close to Watford city center then pay a visit to our beauty salon. https://createyourbeauty.co.uk

Is it OK for me to have waxing performed during my pregnancy?

Just because your pregnant doesn’t mean you should have to stop your usual beauty routine, of course there might be a few changes needed but overall you will find that you can continue as usual. Some people are concerned about if they can still have unwanted hair removed via waxing treatments and the answer is yes! Reaching your legs to shave can become a real chore when your whole body feels like it’s made out of stiff wood so instead of putting yourself through the discomfort come and visit us in Watford and let us take care of you quickly and painlessly.
When the rest of your body is acting unpredictably you might take comfort in knowing that you can still keep yourself smooth and comfortable throughout the day by completing a professional waxing session. If you are close to labour many ladies like to come in for a bikini wax just to make sure they feel confident and comfortable on their special day.
As you can see there is no reason you have to abandon your beauty regime in spite of being pregnant, if you would like to know any more information about how we cater specifically for pregnant ladies, simply get in touch today and speak to anyone of our friendly beauty and massage professionals in Watford.

Not that there is anything wrong with getting one of our amazing massages just because they feel great but you might be interested to know the array of benefits to your health our treatments bring. Below are just 10 of the many reasons why you should consider frequent massage therapy.

1. Reduce Tension In Muscles

Tension in muscles may result from poor posture to over exerting oneself during exercise. Talented massage therapists will be able to lessen this tension in the effected area and help to reduce inflammation. It is not uncommon to feel discomfort in one body part due to a build up of tension further down the chain, problems can arise such as tendinitis due to joints/tendons being under excess stress due to reduced overall flexibility issues. Dealing with one problematic area will translate to overall bodily harmony.

2. Ease Muscle Pain and Promote Faster Recovery

Your workouts can be tough and both aerobic and anaerobic exercise can lead to the breakdown and tightening of muscles, whether it’s endurance training or hypertrophy weight training your muscles fibers will often be damaged with the intention of regrowth so that they may perform better to the same stimuli in future. Many athletes make the mistake of turning to anti-inflammatories such as ibuprofen to reduce their aches and pains. However, if you’re going for a massage you won’t’ have to reach for a medication bottle, you can seek out the care of a qualified massage therapist to help get your muscles back up and running again. When strained and sore muscles are massaged trapped chemicals release and muscles fibers are able to relax allowing more blood to enter meaning more vital nutrients are able to reach the area, meaning faster more effective recovery.

3. Enhance Circulation

A good massage can greatly improve the circulation to the targeted area which means more essential proteins and vitamins are absorbed. This is especially helpful in those who suffer from medical issues brought about by poor circulation. Any individual with substandard circulation can suffer from numerous problems including collection of fluids in the extremities such as fingers or toes, as well as cold hands and feet, tiredness and soreness caused by a build up of lactic acid in the muscles. Proper circulation provides damaged, tense muscles blood that’s rich in oxygen allowing them to heal. Massage improves circulation due to the pressure created by the technique which forces blood through the congested area that then allows new blood to flow in once the pressure is released. This has a dual effect as this will also flush out lactic acid and promote better circulation of lymph fluid which transports metabolic waste away from your muscles and vital organs, helping to lower blood pressure and improve overall well being of the body.

4. Improve Quality Of Sleep

Stress can create all sorts of issues for the body. It can mess with the body chemistry and interfere with a person’s ability to sleep well throughout the night. A massage will help you to relax and therefore release good hormones through the body that help you to sleep better at night. Lowering your cortisol levels (stress hormone) and learning to relax will allow your body, specifically your nervous system to be in a more parasympathetic state which is the ideal mode for your nervous system to achieve a deep effective sleep. When you feel your heart racing and stressful thoughts fluttering through your head it’s more than likely your body has triggered a fight or flight response to the stimulus of your concerns about everyday life, perceives these anxieties as a real threat and as such your nervous system enters the sympathetic state. Massage helps your nervous system switch from the anxious and alert mode to the safe and relaxed one. Fantastic.

5. Relieve Stress

When a person is stressed, they can suffer from all sorts of health issues. A lot of these are from elevated levels of specific hormones such as cortisol that as already mentioned will cause the body’s flight or fight instincts to kick in. Too much stress can cause physical and emotional issues as well as behavioral issues. A massage can help restore a person to full health by releasing toxins and restoring chemical balance to a person’s body. Deep massage can also trigger the release of serotonin an important mood enhancing neurotransmitter more information on this specifically and the other benefits massage has in relation to your neurochemistry can be found here https://thedoctorweighsin.com/massage-and-your-brain/.

6. Improve Mobility

Many people don’t get enough exercise, sitting on office chairs 8 hours a day, believe it not, doesn’t really do the human anatomy any favors. People are leading far more sedentary lifestyles than in the past and this can lead to sore and stiff muscles that don’t work as they should. Massages can help to relieve your muscles and improve joint flexibility. As discussed there are many natural hormones that are released when the body gets a massage and these can help to lubricate the joints and ease their flexibility.

7. Speed Up Healing of Injuries

Injuries to muscles can be very time consuming to heal. A massage may improve the rate of healing and help to restore full movement to injuries. A massage may be a part of physical therapy to improve circulation and joint swelling. It can also loosen scar tissue and reduce pain.

8. Encourage Movement Of Lymphatic Fluids

Lymph fluids help to restore the movement of the body by removing toxins and waste from the body. The more the body is massaged, the more these fluids can remove these toxins from the body aiding in reduced blood pressure and improved circulation. Drainage is often sometimes need espeacially post injury more about this topic can be found here http://www.massagetherapy.com/articles/index.php/article_id/1200/Lymph-Drainage-for-Detoxification-.

9. Improve Mental Awareness

A massage can help to improve mental awareness by encouraging the body to pay more attention to the mind-muscle connection. Nearly every part of our body is connected to an intricate high way of nerves but this connection can be interrupted and weakened when a person is overwhelmed by daily responsibilities; having to constantly look outwards instead of focusing their concentration inwards. Massage can help a person to clear their mind and attain a better connection with their own body once again. Fatigue and stress can all cause lack of sleep and decrease the mental abilities of a person so by tackling these issues you will have more clarity and energy to face the challenges in life.

10. Boost Your Immune System

Elevated blood pressure, stress, and fatigue can all take a toll on the body’s immune system. In the same way that many attribute meditation to having a beneficial effect on your overall health through the removal of stress, massage can do the same. It can boost the various cells that help to keep the body well and fight off many forms of disease or viruses that attempt to enter your system.

Quite obviously it’s clear that massage therapy is a great addition to anyone searching to de-load and revitalise Create Your Beauty offer a wide range of massage therapies https://createyourbeauty.co.uk/treatments/massage/ and if you have any questions we would love to answer them for you so just get in touch.

Float Like A Boat…

Following a couple of long tango sessions over the weekend where my feet and legs had given their best, I was really looking forward to my Monday morning trip to a recently opened salon in Watford – www.createyourbeauty.co.uk – to experience a float in their purpose-built room.

I left the balmy late summer morning to step into the well-fitted interior where Jo gave me a very warm welcome and explained the benefits of cutting off external stimuli to facilitate speedy relaxation. The use of earplugs (the float room is sound-proofed and soft music is played at the start and end of your float), turning off the lights, and being horizontal means your central nervous system has the chance to have the best rest it can, allowing the brain to go into a theta wave state (as someone who is prone to wandering through very dark woods with only my senses as a guide, I can appreciate this). Another significant benefit of a float is the absorption of magnesium sulphate through the skin – a mineral not easily absorbed orally – which improves muscular relaxation and is key to a myriad of other bodily processes.

The flotation space has a shower for use before and after, as it’s important to remove all product traces before entering, although each session is concluded by the fluid being circulated through filters and UV light ready for the next client.

Having been in flotation tanks before, I assumed the experience would be similar but with a little more head room. I was right in that respect, but the conditions in this space were obviously more controlled, the air and liquid temperature being the same. Although I don’t usually consider myself to be claustrophobic, the very warm humid air triggered some distant memory in me that made me want to panic, feeling in danger of not being able to breathe, but it was distant enough for me to consciously override and reconsider later.

Although there are tiny lights in the ceiling, I just went straight for total darkness, and settled back into the support of the dense magnesium solution to support my weight. For me, it’s easy to relax the physical form, but having been doing lots of computer work of late, not so easy to switch off the brain – why, as soon as I lay down, I was writing this article! Soon though, I began to settle into observing my breath and trying not to think about the beads of sweat that were tickling my face (previous experience reminded me not to touch my eyes and spoil the experience with stinging eyes, although this salon thoughtfully provides a flannel for such moments).

On this occasion, I only briefly achieved the state of relaxation I know is possible for me, and being morning, I certainly didn’t fall asleep, so I will make a return visit – perhaps at a different time of day – and try to hone my ability to relax, for that is an art in itself.

I have to say this salon gave the impression of having a more practical approach to health, beauty and wellbeing than most places I’ve visited, and I found that refreshing. They have a progressive attitude in terms of what they offer and I feel it’s a place where the customer really can find what they want. As for floating – it’s the most divine experience to feel totally weightless, and I’d recommend it to anyone who enjoys time with themselves.

The salon is very elegant, the staff are so friendly and very welcoming they couldn’t help enough. The massage therapist was Helen, who is lovely, if you like a very firm massage she is your girl. Helen definitely takes no prisoners if she finds knots in your muscles but she does get results. If you simply want a straight forward relaxing massage I would say another therapist maybe better for you, however for me and my mum we loved it.

It was our first time in the float room but they talk you through everything so you can just go in and relax. It’s a very strange experience floating in water effortlessly, being surrounded by warm air and total silence and being in the dark (you can choose what light setting you want).

To start with I was quite anxious but once I centred myself by touching one of the walls and concentrating on my breathing I found it a very relaxing and healing experience. I did the 30 minute session as my 1st go and felt that was perfect for me at the present time, but for my mum she would’ve preferred an hour as the time just flew.

If you go into it with an open mind and try to let go of any thoughts you have whilst your in there it’s just like weightless meditation. It’s so easy there was no skill required just the ability to relax and let the Epsom salts do their magic.

I would highly recommend this experience! If your a little nervous talk to the staff they really know how to put you at ease. Me and my mum had a wonderful time thank you! See you again soon!

After finding Create Your Beauty and indulging in a facial which was superb. I decided to try their CACI treatments. I had never heard of this treatment before but it sounded interesting. I went for the Jowl lift which to be honest I thought I could be wasting my money. My jowl was a weak point that my mother also has, being hereditary I didn’t think there was much that could be done.

I did the course of 10 treatments and as time went on I have been amazed at the change in my jaw line. It truly has transformed the saggy skin and lifted my jaw line back into place. I noticed the difference after 5 treatments and started to feel the tighter muscles holding.

After 10 CACI treatments I looked and felt younger, and glowing!

The team at Create Your Beauty are very friendly and professional. I feel completely at home when I go in. I always have a lovely experience and look forward to my moment out of my busy day.. thanks! ‘Heather’

CACI ECM testimonial electro cellulite treatment

Electro cellulite treatment.I have recently completed a course of CACI ECM treatments at Create Your Beauty. I was initially nervous when I came to the salon but Colin and his team were very friendly. Over the 3 months the quality of service has consistently been excellent. Each treatment took about an hour and I was amazed by Colin’s diligence and effort to detail. I have noticed a huge difference after the CACI treatments and I look 10 years younger.

The salon has a very friendly atmosphere and clearly prides itself in offering a high quality service to aid natural good health and wellbeing. I was also entitled to a free facial which was incredibly relaxing! My skin certainly looked more radiant after the facial. The Create Your Beauty Salon is perfectly located for me as it is near my home and there is accessible car park space nearby. The salon really does stand out compared to other beauty salons in the area.

Amazing experience, would highly recommend.

The best Friday night I have ever had was spent at Create Your Beauty…

My experience began with an hour floatation experience. I have to say I was a little apprehensive before I started as I was unsure as to how I would deal with the confinement of the tank; however this was no issue whatsoever as the tank is very spacious and does not feel claustrophobic at all. This experience is every mothers dream, an hour of pure peace, quiet, relaxation and ‘me time’. If you haven’t tried floatation, I would highly recommend giving it a try.

Following my float I had one of the best massages I have ever had. Colin worked his magic with a perfect constant firm pressure working away the last of my stresses and strains. I left feeling very relaxed so much so I slept the best I have in a very long time.

Since my floatation I now sleep with no pillows on my bed. This is a new thing for me as ever since I can remember I have been unable to sleep with out 2 pillows. Could this be the floatation’s doing, who knows but I do know days on and I am still feeling amazing after my experience, I am sleeping better, my waking fresher and my body feels less painful.

The salon is very clean and well presented, the staff are friendly, polite, knowledgeable and helpful and everything is provided for you for your experience. This salon offers many treatments and I will certainly be returning in the very near future for another pamper session.
Thanks Colin, Jo & team for making me feel like a new me; I look forward to seeing you very soon…
